Texas - Central Florida Connection

When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I was dead set on being a cowboy and being a kid born and raised on a ranch, that dream seemed less like a dream and more like a certain reality. But as God would have it, my path would not be so direct. I found sports, particularly baseball, and dreams of bright lights and large crowds captured my focus and allowed me to play at the collegiate level and gain a degree.
After university, the draw of big city lights, a seemingly important corporate career, and chasing the love of my life (now my wife) caused me to set off in search of new dreams in Florida. Over the years my wife and I would travel back to the ranch for holidays and once we had kids those trips back to the ranch became more and more often and longer. Being able to teach my wife and kids how to raise cattle, ride horses, and tend to the land all while watching them soak it in reawakened the dream and passion for ranching that I had as a little kid.
Around the time my dream of ranching started to reawaken, COVID hit. The chaotic path the world took during and after this opened my eyes to the true state of the world we lived in. The lack of trust/honesty in our institutions, the half-truths, or outright lies, from corporate marketing, and the visible corruption in so many industries and institutions caused me to question what I had been chasing in the city lights and seemingly important corporate career.
Among the many glaring problems, our food industry caught my attention. Seeing the use of industry-supported regulations to push out small farmers/ranchers. The use of industry-funded research that amazingly supports the industry's desired outcomes to put nutritional benefits on labels that in many cases were half-true, at best. But the final straw for me was seeing in a time when nutrition, or lack thereof, became an obvious major culprit to our health, the food industry’s refusal to change away from processed foods and conventionally raised meat. To me, it became clear that our food industry needed to change.
During this journey of discovery, the ranch became a place of refuge for me and my family amidst the chaos in the world. More importantly, it became a source of hope that the old and honest way of life was not gone. I began to see others around me taking an interest in their nutrition and turning back to whole and natural foods. The rapid rise of the Farm-to-Table movement. The increasing demand from consumers for honest whole foods, and the rise of demand for grass-fed beef thanks to its many superior nutrition benefits gave me more hope. Ultimately, it was my turn back to my faith during this journey that helped me realize that God had given me an opportunity and the ability to be a source of positive change for our food industry.
In my travel back and forth between Central Florida and East Texas I realized the unique opportunity at hand to make a meaningful impact. Most small farmers/ranchers working to change our food industry for the better are in rural areas and access to the urban areas is costly, which often drives up the cost of honest whole foods, namely grass-fed beef. People deserve honest food and deserve to eat food that was raised the right way. Sadly, for many people, honest food that was raised the right way is out of their price range. This is where I have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
We have formed our mission around these points, raise honest beef the right way, and provide it at a price that makes it more accessible to those in our communities. I created Hynson Springs M Ranch LLC. so that my family can join the movement of small farmers and ranchers who are putting trustworthiness back into our food. I also created it so that grass-fed and grass-finished beef could be offered at a price that makes it more accessible. Our hope is that we can grow to become your trusted provider of grass-fed and grass-finished beef and create a way for me and my family to permanently move back to the ranch and regain that quiet and honest way of life for ourselves and future generations while still serving those in our communities.
