Our Standards

Grass-Fed and Grass-Finished

Nature does it best! Our beef gets its exceptional flavor and the ideal amount of marbling the good old-fashioned way from our lush pastures and native grasses, not grain. We believe God made cattle to roam pastures and eat grass, so that is what our cattle do. We make sure that our cattle maintain a grass-based diet their whole lives. This is important because Grass-fed beef packs more heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed beef, which are vital to your health including brain, eye, and nerve functions, and heart and circulatory health. Grass-fed beef is also higher in other essential nutrients, such as vitamin Vitamin E, and a beneficial fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), tied to improved immunity and anti-inflammation benefits. At Hynson Springs M Ranch we believe grass-fed is best and our commitment is to offer nothing less when you eat our beef.

No Hormones, Antibiotics, Or Steroids

We do NOT use hormones, antibiotics, or steroids in raising our cattle. The reason conventionally grown cattle are given hormones, antibiotics, or steroids is they need to gain weight quickly. Because heavy grain diets and/or confinement in Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) increase stress on the cattle, infections can be far more common. Cattle raised in these environments are given antibiotics and steroids preventively to ensure they do not lose weight or stop gaining weight due to an illness. At Hynson Springs M Ranch we do things differently because the health and well-being of our herd is important to us.

Pasture-Raised

Our cattle spend their days freely grazing open pastures and drinking from our natural spring-fed ponds. Sadly, the majority of beef in America is finished on grain at CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations), more commonly known as feedlots. These operations crowd hundreds of cattle in enclosed spaces which puts stress on the animals and can cause health issues. At Hynson Springs M Ranch our cattle have plenty of open pasture and natural protection to roam free and graze.

Family-Owned and Operated

Trusting that your food was raised the right way and knowing where it comes from really matters in today’s world of slick marketing, half-truths, and cutting corners. At Hynson Springs M Ranch we understand and share that feeling. Being a family-owned and operated ranch means we can deliver that trust to you. We believe that if something is worth doing it is worth doing right. We do not take shortcuts or cut corners, if anything we’ve been known to overbuild a thing or two on the ranch. That's why we can stand behind the quality of our grass-fed and grass-finished beef. This is the beef we eat and feed to our families. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Sustainable Ranching

Ranching isn’t just about caring for a herd of cattle. It's also about caring for the land. We carefully rotate and avoid overgrazing to give each pasture the time it needs to regenerate and stay healthy. Additionally, growing our own hay and raising our heifers from birth, right here on the ranch, gives us the ability to keep invasive grasses out of our pastures and keep our herd healthy and clean.

Quality of Grass Matters

Not all grass is the same. If you want grass-fed and grass-finished then you should care about the quality of grass the cattle eat. Thanks to our rich East Texas soil and plenty of rain we can grow pastures with lush, nutrient-dense Ryegrass, Crimson Clover, and Coastal Bermuda grass, which is what gives our beef the incredible flavor and marbling. Cattle that graze pastures with marginal or sandy soil, like in Florida and the Southeast US, tend to graze bahiagrass because it can survive the harsh soil conditions that would cause other grass types to shrivel up. Although bahiagrass can survive it does not provide the same nutritional density and that impacts the quality of the beef from these areas. Taking the time to manage our pastures gives us the ability to grow incredibly thick and nutrient-rich grasses giving our grass-fed and grass-finished beef the incredible flavor and marbling you won’t find anywhere else.
